Speaking From Experience - Crit Feedback

Results of the crit

PROBLEM ANALYSIS - GOOD

  • relate more to this course rather than to just graphics
  • aesthetically graphic related
  • hard to read in some areas
  • maybe include more visuals/images
  • inspire
  • rework notes on intendance e.g. 85% attendance
CONTEXTUAL UNDERSTANDING - GOOD
  • fairly simple advice - keep tone of voice consistant throughout
  • clearer problem, quotes & statistics, make more relevant/specific to the course
RESEARCH
  • I didn't bring my research/blog research to the brief - N/A
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
  • maybe try lower case - easier to read (the type i chose only encrypts in uppercase
  • could condense into a single book
  • colours are nice, work well as a set
  • more info on each pack but dont over complicate
  • could change the counter space to make the type easier to read

Speaking From Experience - Do's & Dont's

BACK PAGE
Using the image of the chiwawa and the great dane to represent the quote about a persons limits. I felt this was revent as in Graphic Design you need to know how much work you can do in an allocated time. In addition, as a graphic designer you can some times push your self to your limits to try and complete a project - but you have to know when is enough.

I had a look at what the page would look like if i used the 'tall' typeface and the babas typeface but I wasnt happy about how it looked - there just wasnt enough on the page in terms of colour. And i also felt that the typeface didn't fit with the image.

I tried changing the orientation of it but still it didnt work

Looking at involving more of the colour scheme.
I then moved on to using the same format of the other piece and using HELVETICA NEUE.
I am happy with the way it looks as it the type looks balance without over powering the image. It is also a brighter, more eye catching piece that the two above.

FRONT
The title of "do's and dont's" itself reminds me of the rules at schools, so I chose using the plain white stock - reminiscent of a white board at school. Keeping the introduction, there wasn't must to explain/introduce on this page so i just used symbols instead. I then split the remaining 6 pages into DO's and DON'S.

I the symbol for a BRIGHT IDEA in relation to blogs to help students remember that they should note down every idea which comes to mind, and by putting it straight onto your blog you can always return to it at a later point in time.

I feel that i may need to make some of the type more legible, or maybe take out a few of the points so that the page is more cluttered - will see what people in the crit think. But as a whole I am pleased with how it has turned out.
