I had a few problems when I first started trying to create this sequence in After effects as I got confused about the rotation tool! However after some corrections I managed to get each of the letters to rotate in time. I would have like to change the pace of the rotations so that they were rotating faster at the start of the sequence and slowed down towards the end however I was unsure as to how I would do this. Never the less I still feel that the sequence successfully represents the drop motion through the characters dropping out of the frame.
