Speaking From Experience - Specifics/Ideas/What to Include

For PRIMARY RESEARCH I am going to create a questionnaire with questions along the lines of

  • How things have been essential for you being here/turning up this year e.g. phone so people can make sure you wake up
  • Whats the most practical piece of advice you could give to someone who parties too hard and doesn't work (bearing in mind they are having the time of their life)
  • Whats the most practical piece of advice for someone who works too hard and doesn't know how to party (bearing in mind they are content with working this hard)
  • how many times on average have you slipped up badly and partied too hard and hence didn't make it in/failed to complete the work
  • Do you think you have made the most of the nightlife this year
  • Out of 10 how successful do you feel you balance work VS play this year
  • 5 sensible tips to make sure you can work and play hard e.g. do the work when you get it
  • 5 idiotic ways to make sure you can work and play hard e.g. start drinking at lunch so you sober up earlier and get in for the next day
  • How many nights a week do you drink/go out
  • How have you kept the balance
  • 5 words that sum up work vs play e.g impossible
PRESENTATION
  • simliar to a loo book - small, short, simple with 1 liners or just words and simple hand/computer rendered
  • include pointless facts, figures, anecdotes, pictures, icons
  • similar to the recent issue of creative review (ANNUAL) where half the book is one way up and the other side (half play half work) is the opposite way up - easily divided
  • 2 different colour schemes/typefaces or could be negative......colour with white righting, then white with colour writing
  • small in size - 'the little book of...'
  • name 'an idiots guide to surviving a social life on a graphics course.'
  • Tone of voice = aimed at students so light, slang, swearing, basic directions/maps?
CONTENT
  • TIPS - how to make things more bearable e.g. bring in pillows for the chairs. Washing money - any spare change hide away in a little pot. Make friends - they will make sure you get up...supposedly. Gum for alcohol breath
  • WORDS - have a list but look them up on theasaurus so they make you think a little bit outside the box e.g. shower = decomtamination
  • WHAT TO INCLUDE/MIX OF (idiotic ways of doing them)
    • How to balance
    • how to motivate
    • how to get into uni after a night out - invent a machine!?
    • make sure you go out
    • get sleep - however difficult it may be e.g. have naps to keep going
    • make sure you know your week e.g. draw timetable on your wall - repaint every week!
