COMMUNICATION IS A VIRUS - developing and focusing idea

From research I have found that the most difficult stage of the year for a student is the exam period, in particular in your first year. Students have been drinking heavily throughout the year but the summer term is when then have to buckle down. In particular in the first year, it is the first time a student is faced with exams and still had the opportunity to drink/go out - and this time they have only themselves to blame as no one is watching over them.

My idea is to still keep the idea of promoting a day which will keep them positive and motivate them but to have the start date at the start of the exam period e.g. 1st may. The posters, flyers, stickers, beer mats will still be placed in relevant locations but will the messages will rotate every week with the aim of keeping them on track and on top of their game.

What the messages will contain;

  • facts and figures on how alcohol will affect their performance, concentration, motivation
  • guilt trip/question them with messages which can be seen around the pub e.g. beer mats which will make them feel they will have to be working e.g. 'have you done your 30 hours of work outside your uni time this week'

This idea bring together all the work and routes that I have been working towards. Starting with teenage/student depression as a result from a result of the fast and furious student life style, to then trying to promote a positive message/vibe, then to keeping students focused, on top of their game, happy, motivate and not get distracted and fall of their path.

What I am going to create;

  • POSTER - this will promote the date of the 1st of may and provide information on what it is about and why - to be placed in the library, pubs, back of toilet doors, bus stations
  • HOT DOG FOLD LEAFLETS - information pack containing fact/figures and motivational messages and provoking questions
  • BEER MATS - for the pub, confrontational messages to guilt trip them
  • STICKERS - small reminders to put on belonging, gadgets etc.
